$

0
Over at PlayStationHAX.it developer Mysis has released code giving DEX user's a special treat, as the developer has found a solution for Blu-Ray disc playback (0x800299D2 fix) on DEX CFW such as REBUG in DEX Mode. Mysis has tested this on only REBUG REX v4.46, but Rebug developer Joonie has also confirmed the code works on REBUG REX v4.75.3. So we should hopefully see this new feature for DEX users coming to future updates of DEX firmwares. View the details below

Fallout 3 freeze opening a door

During Bethesda's E3 Show i was amazed by Fallout 4 so i thought it was a good idea to play Fallout 3 before the release.
This game got me hooked, i played around 40+ Hours and i think i didnt even completed half of the game until this freeze. It's a main quest, i have to go to inside a building, open a door to another area inside this building do something and go back. The problem is that if i go back and open this door the game freeze. I loaded an older save before i went into this building and if i dont activate the quest i can safely open that door, but not with the quest going on.
The point is that in this game, being an RPG, saves are very personal and it's not the same as with a save from another player.

I tried everything, delete and reinstall it's data, load it old style with cobra disabled, tried to complete other side quests and going back, nothing.

I'm currently running Rebug 4.75.3 but i dont think it makes any difference, also the game code is BLES00740

I remember that Deank was using some kind of debugger to get Shadow of Mordor working on cobra, can it be useful to understand my problem? maybe @Joonie can help?

Mine started with Arcades if I remember correctly. Probably games like Pac Man, Frogger, etc, etc.

The first console I got was the NES Power Set, with the Zapper & Power Pad, plus 3 games. I have some fond memories of those games.

It's hard to remember that far back... but TMNT, SMB.... it's easier to remember the SNES days.

But those arcades. Man I loved those arcades. Those crowds around the games like Mortal Kombat II :D

Upgrade from CFW 6.60 to CFW 6.61

I am running ProB on 6.60 on my E-1004.
I have three questions for the experts here.

1. As I understand from your instructions, to update to ProC on 6.61, I need to uninstall the ProB, update OFW to 6.61 and then install ProC 6.61. Is this correct? Or can I update OFW without un-installing the previous CFW?

2. Same procedure if I want to install LME 6.61 as well?

3. Can ProC 6.61 and LME 6.61 both be installed simultaneously on the E-1004?

Playing PAL DVDs on NTSC PS3

@y0urh34d

Your post from the other thread :
If your PS3 is getting "Pal boradcast isn't supported" then go grab the xregistry.sys from dev_flash2/etc and change the value of /setting/bddvd/dvdTvSystem from 0 to 2 with a xregistry editor. The region lock still applies for retail DVDs unfortunately (I've tried everything that was suggested to me a while back and nothing worked) so it has to be a region free disc or ISO.
Read more at www.psx-place.com | 404 - Page Cannot Be Found

-------
I tried this. I can still play my NTSC DVDs okay, but when I tried to play an ISO (mounted through Cobra) of a PAL DVD, it went blank (didn't give the "Broadcast" error) but locked up the ps3 tight. Any idea why? Im pretty sure the region code was removed since I ripped the DVD to ISO with AnyDVD.

IDPSet v0.87 - Now Firmware Independant

Developer Zar updates his popular PS3 homebrew utility IDPSet with the release of v0.87 that brings firmware independence (excludes Rootkey Dumper & Converter) which means this application should not need an update when a new firmware is released. Also the root key dumper has been updated with 4.75 DEX Support, Then also Zar has added a log that contains additional details, so future issues such as the random freezing bug can be tracked.

Quote:

v0.87
  • Added : fw independant
  • Added : root key dumper 4.75D (thanks to Joonie who ported it)
  • Added : more message in the log to be more aware of what's going on and also to allow me to know precisly what's causing some 'random' freeze (thanks to your feedbacks ofc)

Note :
  • The root key dumper and Converter are not fw indepedant
  • We can't write PSP IDPS in the EID0 without bricking the system.

Apparently (and this is something Sony LOVES doing) they decided to use the code of a tool called PSX2PSP as their own and made psxclassics. the compression algo is there (although modified) and the isos come out uncompressed or compressed if we choose to.
The only 2 differences i've found so far (by using psxtract from Hykem) were that the crypto they use and PSX2PSP's (aparent lack of) crypto and the compression algo.

Sorry for the clarification

Tutorial:
1.) create pbp file using ps1topsp tool without using any compression methods.
2.) extraxt the data.psar from it (this file is required for creating ISO.BIN.EDAT)
3.) extract iso headers and isos from data.psar
4.) extract the sector table from iso header.
5.) use hasher util with each iso and sector table to create the the table with proper sha1 hashes.
6.) insert the hash tables to their iso headers
7.) fix the iso offsets into iso headers.
8.) create ISO.BIN.DAT using modified iso headers.
9.) create ECDSA signature at the tail og the ISO.BIN.DAT
10.) encrypt ISO.BIN.DAT to ISO.BIN.EDAT
11.) make pkg
12.) Profit!

Did I brick my PS3?

$

I had issues with my PS3 that I tried to resolve, but now I have bigger problems.

I'm on Rogero 4.75 and installed a new HDD (and eventually formatted my old HDD on my PC).

With both HDDs it says The system software cannot be loaded bla bla bla. It says holds select and start and insert firmware 4.75 etc. When I do that it loads, then reboots and says the data is corrupted.

It does that with with both HDDs and I've tried numerous flash drives etc. Is part of the system software stored on the HDD (which I now formatted)? What can I do?

Thanks,

Carel

PSNpatch v2015.9/A - New Spoofer Warning by KW

$

0
In PS3 homebrew news, developer KW has released the latest version of PSNpatch here in the PSX-Place forums. In this update (v2015.9/A) the developer has a new version spoofer warning for CFW user's as he lends some advice about CFW versions Spoofers. Then also, in the PSNpatch Toolbox an added function to auto-spoof IDPS & IDPS(*) now resides within the PSNpatch Application. Plus in v2015.9/A, additional changes from KW can be seen below in the official release quote provided by kokotonix:

Quote:

Hi all:

PSNpatch release 2015.9/A
  • NEW Version spoofer warning: PSNPatch displays the real and the spoofed cfw version in the main menu - a good version spoofer (when one is available) MUST BE invisible to PSNPatch;
  • Added PSNPatch toolbox setup of plugin on-boot auto features (auto-spoof IDPS & IDPS) (*);
  • Improved rebug (lite) detection for proper handling of webman xmb menu icons;
  • Updated included webman-mod (cobra and non-cobra) to version 1.43.04 (lite version) - webman-mod cobra version should be compatible with every cobra versions (past and future);
  • Confirmed support for 4.76 CFW with all the CORE functions - just a confirmation: no changes were made in the source code - PSNPatch continues to be firmware version independent

(*) This could already be done directly in PSNPatch plugin by keeping pressed L3+R3+R2 during boot until the "auto mode" message is displayed, but doing it from the PSNPatch toolbox seems to be easier for some users.

NOTE:

  • A quick Remember for those who preferred not to read past versions release notes:
  • PSNPatch plugin locks psn access until CFW is disabled.
  • For best protection the plugin should always be installed.
  • The plugin can be installed in cobra and non-cobra systems(for non-cobra use the also included plugin handler).

READ BEFORE ASKING:
  • 99% + of the issues and questions placed from users during the past months were already answered in this document and/or the FAQ included in the distribution.

Vita Mega Mod Pack Inbound!! Custom PSTV Whitelist, Themes & So Much More

$

So boys and girls it seems Mr. Gas and Major Tom have revealed a huge tid bit of info for all Vita/PSTV users. How to read and write to the Vita's file system. This means custom theme's, through analysis of file structure (without the need of hardware to dump NAND) and so much more even custom themes and removing that nasty limitation on the PSTV that limit's which games we can and can't play. I think this will send sales through the roof for the system. Note this works for 3.52 and below and if you wish to use any of this do not update past 3.52 as both devs stated this can and will be patched upon the next firmware update. This is all possible due to a huge flaw in Sony's email application much like the PKG Installer we have all known about for a long time. I will stop wasting your time and get to the meat and potato's of this article but here is some of what we can now do thanks to these talented devs. But for now we can install the new PSTV custom whitelist, custom themes and dump the entire Vita filestructre from the NAND, carts and even internal memory. Here is more on that below.

How to dump files with Vita Email application

dump.png

If you are familiar with pkg installer through the email app, you can modify the link to

Code:

"email:send?attach=ur0:shell/db/app.db."
Instead of
Code:

"psgm:open?titleid=NPXS10031"
you can also change the link to whatever file you want here is the list of most files

There are a few restrictions to dump those files like:
1- limited to 2MB
2- you can't dump files located far more than 7 directories
like ux0:1/2/3/4/5/6/7.txt
also (don't forget the dot at the end)

How to Write to Vita File System
banshee.png

First u need to overwrite the the email app database by using the EML Write Tool v0.4 (which now has drop and drag support!!) to install our needed writer.eml
to do this send writer.eml to your email then receive it in your PSTV or Vita then click the image and close the app (don't click the error message)

To write a file to the Vita’s filesystem you need to create a new e-mail on your PC and set the path you want the file to be installed as subject.
The actual file you want to write needs to be renamed to #0 or x (without any file-ending) and set as attachment. Send it to your Vita! Now that the app is ready to write files if u want to write a file all u want is to rename that file to

#X

Then simply attach it to the message and write the path you want in the subject and send!!

For all who don't know how to send EML to email application

  • Open writer.eml with Thunderbird (can use portable version as well)
  • Go to Message -> Edit as new Message (Ctrl + E)
  • Enter your email and send to device

Also for adding attachment in email (when added right click on it and rename)

PSTV Custom Whitelist Patch Installation

thunderbird.png

Fire up your EML Writer and use the custom list_launch_vita.dat to this directory

ur0:game/launch/list_launch_vita.dat

to bypass the PSTV whitelist. After that reboot and enjoy most of your Vita games on the PSTV. Not all Vita games will work after this hack but most do, however all PSP and PS1 titles now work. For the Vita limitations this is due to the proper flag not being set in the SFO file. We have no way to edit this for now till the key is found and released to resign the files just like the PS3 keys. Good news is most games do work and already have this flag set in the SFO. If it doesn't work after this all you can do is patiently wait and enjoy your new games for now. All I have tested work like Ys, Uncharted, Street Fighter X Tekken, Netflix (must be installed via EML Writer and PKG Install method) and more!!

PSX-Place Disclaimer
NOTE PLEASE BACKUP THE ORIGINAL FILES PRIOR TO DOING THIS CUSTOM WHITELIST.

Use the above mentioned dumping method to do this. Some users have reported error C2-15413-4 after install and did not back up the original thus making their PSTV useless. Good news is it has worked just fine for me but I also don't have the original on the system I am using but I do have three more. I will post it once I get home for those that can't follow instructions so all hope is not lost. Just save yourself some heartache nd mod responsibly. Always backup and don't proceed useless you are comfortable with the mod and can be reversed, if not doint be the test subject and wait till more advanced users have reported back and all is safe and well. PSX-Place is not responsible if you make a paperweight out of your PSTV, we are just here to spread the word.
